There are three parts of my life that really will come into play for my "Journey to Health":
1. My primary goal in life is to follow Jesus, with all my heart, soul & mind. I try to base my decisions on the values and guidelines that the Bible provides.
2. I am a young wife and mother to a beautiful boy born in June 2010 who I will loving refer to as "Stinker", "Little Stinker", Stinky, etc. There is a long line of odd terms of endearment in my family. :)
Goals:
1. To properly maintain a healthy blood sugar so that I can be around a long time for my family.
2. To get my body back to a pre-baby fitness state (not necessarily weight- just healthier).
3. To be a role model for my son, particularly by taking care of myself.
Now the real question is how? I think that is where the 3 aspects of myself I shared early intersect. I believe that to reach my health potential, I need to strengthen my faith, focus on my family, and spend a significant amount of time taking care of my diabetes and related health issues.
I'm hoping that this blog will give me some accountibility, and serve as a reminder to be taking care of myself. I know myself well enough to know that I have to take this in baby steps. First baby step, start testing my blood sugar everytime before I eat. I know this sounds really basic, but I've got to start some where!
